By fusing three layers of glass in a kiln, Pat Doughty creates the pendants for her dichroic jewelry. "Dichroic" refers to a process developed for the space industry, and subsequently adapted for use by artists. The reflective quality creates a play of color and light that is unique and individual for each piece. These dichroic glass pendants are then either wire wrapped with sterling, copper, or gold-filled wire, or they are silversmithed in sterling or argentium silver, coppersmithed, or worked in brass.
